COSMETIC GOES AFTER BIGGER PIECE OF THE MARKET

Japan-based cosmetics marketer Shiseido is trying to increase its number of middle class customers. The company will launch a new line of skin care and make-up products in the fall to be sold in 1,200 outlets in Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. Shiseido expects sales to reach $1.8 million(US), but hopes to increase this to $88.5 million(US). The products will be targeted to women in their teens through their 30s and will be promoted using TV and print ads by Tohoku Shinsha.
