SPEEDWARE SELLS FINANCIAL SOFTWARE

UltrAcc Open Solutions Inc. of Toronto has bought the accounting software from Speedware Corp. of Toronto, but will wait about a year to decide whether it will hire an agency to market the products, company partner Carlos Pereira told Adnews yesterday. The company plans to market the product, but hasn't decided how. Currently, it is working to keep its customer base and decide whether it needs to hire more employees. The software is available in six different modules including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger. It is written in Speedware 4GL and can be integrated with it, but it can also be used in other configurations on the HP 3000, HP 9000 or RS/6000 operating platforms. UltrAcc is owned by two former Speedware employees: Pereira and Wendy Lumb. When the software was owned by Speedware, the company promoted it using PR, direct mail, trade shows and its Web site, all done in-house. Speedware sold the software to concentrate on its Internet commerce and business intelligence software products.
