H&M SNAGS ANOTHER SPECIALTY CHANNEL
By Adnews Staff
Harrod & Mirlin of Toronto will be handling advertising for History Television, a new specialty television network launching Sept. 8. An ad campaign for the channel will be launched in about five weeks. History Television is owned by Alliance Broadcasting and the CTV Network, both of Toronto. Harrod & Mirlin also creates ads for Showcase Television, which is owned by Alliance. The network will broadcast historical programming such as documentaries and movies from Canada and around the world. To kick off its promotions, History Television will sponsor Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal. The network will produce "The Great Canadian History Quiz" to run on giant screens at Ottawa's Parliament Hill ceremonies on the afternoon of Canada Day. In addition, specially produced History Television postcards will depict interesting Canadian images and historical trivia questions will be distributed at the events.
