GROUPS JOINS FORCES TO COMBAT ILLEGAL BOOZE
By Adnews Staff
The Association of Canadian Distillers has teamed up with the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Ontario Provincial Police to combat illegal alcohol production and smuggling. The group launched a poster campaign this week telling people that they could receive a reward of up to $1,000 from the Crime Stoppers program if they have information about the smuggling or production of illegal alcohol. The poster was created in-house by the LCBO with the help of freelance designers. The LCBO estimates that it lost about $644 million in sales because of illegal booze in the 1996/1997 fiscal year.
