INFOSEEK RELEASES TARGETED INTERNET ADVERTISING SYSTEM

Infoseek Corp. of Santa Clara, California introduced an Internet advertising system this week that the company says targets advertising to those individual Web users as most likely to respond. Using Ultramatch technology, Infoseek offers two services: Eyeseek and Clickseek. Eyeseek lets advertisers target ad campaigns to individuals in specific behavior groups, such as entertainment seekers, business seekers and real estate seekers, by choosing characteristics and interests from the Ultramatch database. Clickseek evaluates which individuals are responding by clicking through a specific ad and then repositions that ad to appear in places that will attract similar users.
