AIRLINE FOUNDATION TAKES BUSINESSES ON TRIPS

Canadian Airlines Foundation has launched its 1997 Small Business Expansion program. The goal of the contest is to assist thirty small businesses in making new global market connections by awarding twenty businesses with airfare and accommodtion to help them market their products to an international market. An additional 10 regional awards will provide airfare only. To enter, businesses must submit proposals to the foundation by July 18, outlining their business development for destinations such as Tokyo, Nagoya, Hong Kong, Mexico City, Sao Paulo, London and Rome. The contest is being promoted using brochures at airport lounges and local Chambers of Commerce. Print ads will also be used beginning later this month. The campaign was created in-house with the help of Ogilvy & Mather of Toronto. Winners will be announced by the end of August. The foundation is the community investment program of Canadian Airlines. It also awards airfare for college and university students looking for a summer job and provides airfare for various charities.
