EPSON INTRODUCES PHOTO PRINTER

U.S.-based Epson America, Inc. recently introduced a six-color ink jet printer designed specifically for photo reproduction to the North American market. Epson says the new product, called the Epson Stylus Photo, can be used straight out of the box, allowing even beginners to begin reproducing photos immediately. The printer supports several operating systems including Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0 and Macintosh. A "Digital Darkroom" software bundle that comes with the Stylus Photo includes LivePix 1.1 for Windows 95 and Live Picture 2.6 SE for Macintosh. Both programs support FlashPix image technology which allows users to work with high-quality photographic images. The Stylus Photo is available in Canada at computer superstores and specialty retail shops. In Canada, Epson will begin national print advertising for the printer by September. The ads will be handled in-house. Cohn & Wolfe of Toronto is providing PR support for the Stylus Photo in Canada.
