CDMA TO LAUNCH EDUCATION PROGRAMS
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Direct Marketing Association announced plans this week to develop a series of post-secondary education initiatives. Over the next three years, the Toronto-based organization will introduce 12 initiatives including: a study of what is currently being taught about direct marketing across the country and new resources required; new teaching aids, instruction techniques and course designs; a scholarship program supporting students interested in direct marketing careers; a job bank for the posting of student resumes and openings in the industry, as well as a student internship program, student participation at CDMA events; a student category in the RSVP Awards and student membership in the CDMA. Money for the programs will come from the CDMA's Roger Logan Education Fund. This week, Canada Post made a major commitment to the fund, pledging to match every contribution dollar for dollar. Separately, the CDMA handed out three awards for environmental responsibility at its Annual Spring Convention and Trade Show in Halifax, N.S. this week. Canadian Tire Corp. received the Integrated Programs Award. Citizens Bank of Canada grabbed the Internal Programs Award and MailMarketing Corp. won a Certificate of Merit.
