STD COMPUTERS HIGHLIGHT NEW CHIP

STD Systems Inc. of Markham, Ont. introduced a computer this week featuring Intel Corp.'s Pentium II processor. Called the CompuPartner CBP2-233, the machine uses an Intel 233 Mhz processor, 512K l1 cache memory, 32 megabytes of EDO RAM, a 3.1 gigabyte hide hard drive and a 24X CD-ROM drive. The computer runs both Microsoft Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0. Currently, STD has no plans to promote the computer through advertising. If it decides to do so, the ads will be created in-house. PR is being done by Focus Communications of Markham, Ont. STD makes personal computers. Other computer makers launching computers with the new chip include: NEC Corp., Compaq Computer Corp. and International Business Machines Corp.
