SMW EXPANDS HEALTHCARE CLIENT LIST
By Adnews Staff
SMW Advertising of Toronto snagged two new healthcare accounts recently. The agency won the Copaxone business from Teva Pharmaceutical Industries of Jerusalem and Hoechst Marion Roussel of Montreal. The duo is marketing Copaxone in a joint venture. The drug is used in the treatment of multiple sclerosis. It was launched in the U.S. in March, but is waiting approval from Health Canada to marketed here. SMW already handles some advertising for Hoechst. The agency will also be creating advertising for Hoffmann-La Roche's Xenical, a new anti-obesity drug still waiting approval from Health Canada. The drug is expected to be launched in 1998. SMW won the business in a competition with three other agencies.
