VICTORIA AGENCY LANDS ACCOUNTS
By Adnews Staff
The Broughton Communications Group of Victoria B.C. recently added a new account to its client roster and held on to another. The Garden City Fastball Society of Victoria awarded the agency the contract for the society's advertising, promotion and public relations during this year's fastball season, while the Ministry of Forests, Public Affairs Branch, which has worked with BCG for the past two years, will tap the firm for advertising projects between April 1, 1997 and March 31, 1998. BCG landed the Garden City account after working with the society to find a new sponsor. Included in this year's projects will be promotional activities for the Victoria Legends Fastpitch Team Season, the 51st Annual International Softball Congress World Fastpitch Tournament and the 1997 Senior Men's Canadian Fastpitch Championships. Peter Lawson, BCG's general manager, told Adnews the agency was particularly excited about the account because of the exposure the national and world tournaments bring. The 1990 world tournament held in Victoria attracted 125,000 people over ten days, Lawson said, adding he expects attendance to be even better this year. Ads for the fastball events will use outdoor, transit and TV, concentrated largely in the Victoria area. BCG retained the ministry account by beating out several other agencies, based largely on BCG's past performance. Most ministry ads will be black and white print executions. Radio has also been used in the past.
