SOFTQUAD READYING NEW WEB PUBLISHING PROGRAMS
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based SoftQuad International recently teamed up with InXight Software, Inc., a spinoff of U.S.-based Xerox, to improve SoftQuad's HoTMetaL Web publishing programs. Using technology under license from InXight, SoftQuad is adding an innovation called Hyperbolic Tree to its HoTMetaL intranet Publisher and HoTMetaL PRO software. SoftQuad says the Hyperbolic Tree user interface allows Web designers to navigate, manage and interact with thousands of Web pages at a time. SoftQuad chairman and CEO David Gurney said the new technology will be incorporated in the upcoming versions of HoTMetaL PRO, expected out in June and HoTMetaL intranet Publisher, due out in September. SoftQuad advertises its products in North American computer trade publications. The company has been handling advertising in-house, Gurney said, but added that the Boston-based marketing division may now be working with an agency. Officials in Boston could not be reached for comment. SoftQuad is a provider of knowledge publishing applications with sales offices across North America and Europe. Based in Palo Alto, Calif., InXight's mission is to market technologies invented at Xerox's Palo Alto Research Centre and Rank Xerox Research Centre in Grenoble, France.
