MAYTAG SPINS OUT NEW WASHER AND DRYER SET
By Adnews Staff
Appliance giant Maytag Corporation of Iowa unveiled a new high-efficiency washer and dryer last week. Designed specifically for the North American market, Maytag says the set, called Neptune, eliminates deficiencies in European-built high-efficiency machines, such as small capacity, tiny door openings and long wash cycles. Because the washer doesn't have a central agitator, Maytag says it can handle items such as sleeping bags, comforters and ski parkas. Both the washer and dryer are slated for a mid-to-late-summer release in North America. Product-specific TV and print ads, created by Maytag's agency, Leo Burnett of Chicago, will support the products' release. Leo Burnett's Toronto office will adapt the ads for the Canadian market. Separately, Maytag will also be releasing a newly-designed line of top-mount refrigerators in April. The company says the line boasts advances in cooling, crisper design and air flow. Like the Neptune set, the refrigerators will be backed by product-specific TV and print ads produced by Leo Burnett of Chicago and adapted for Canada by the Toronto office.
