Sirius XM conducts Top of the Country contest

Toronto-based sattelite radio company Sirius XM Canada has begun a contest promotion called “Top of the Country.” Conducted in association with the Canadian Country Music Association, the contest encourages consumers to vote for an upcoming Canadian country music performer. The winning performer will receive a grand prize of $25,000. Consumers can vote online at <http://www.siriusxm.ca/topcountry> until June 14.

Eight semi-finalists have already been selected and have recorded an original song for the contest as well as a video. The semi-finalists are Danielle Ryan, Devin Cooper, Five Roses, Josh Ross, Kyle McKearney, Mallory Johnson, Shantaia and Sacha. The three artists with the most votes will move to a final round during which they will participate in mentorship sessions and meetings with industry professionals, as well as a SOCAN songwriting trip and performance at music events. The finalists will perform live during a performance at the CCMA's Country Music Week 2022 in Calgary, AB in September, where the winner will be chosen.

“Canada has a country music talent pool that is overflowing with potential and our eight semi-finalists all have star power,” said Jeff Leake, director of music, podcasts and listenership analytics at SiriusXM Canada. “Country music fans are in for a treat as they discover some impressive talent and vote for their favourite new artists. Their support will help determine who will be fighting for the title of Canada's next winner of SiriusXM's Top of the Country.”
