London, Ontario-based ECHO Power Equipment (Canada) has handed its advertising account to OK&D Marketing Communications of Hamilton, Ontario. The appointment marks the first time the equipment manufacturer and distributor has had a Canadian agency of record. OK&D spokesperson Jon De Forest told Adnews at least one other agency pitched for the account. Preparations for Echo's first campaign are already underway, De Forest said. The national print campaign will involve executions in consumer and trade publications and should kick off by June. ECHO (Canada) is a subsidiary of U.S.-based ECHO Power Equipment Ltd. The company manufactures powered lawn and garden equipment and chainsaws, while acting as a distributor of several other power equipment brands in Canada. OK&D will also be responsible for handling the advertising for the separate brands.
