MICROSOFT OFFERS SOFTWARE SUITE TO HOME MARKET

U.S.-based Microsoft Corp. is going after the home market with the release this week of its new software suite. Called Microsoft Home Essential 97, the suite features Microsoft Word 97, Encarta 97 Encyclopedia, Microsoft Works 4.0, Greeting Workshop, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Microsoft Arcade and a link to the company's Internet Gaming Zone. Microsoft Works is a home management solution. It allows you to create an address book, record belongings for insurance, investment or maintenance purposes and creates cash flow statements and mortgage and loan analysis. Works automates 70 common household tasks. The suite gives users access to the World Wide Web and includes games such as Asteroids, Battlezone, Centipede, Missile Command and Tempest. In Canada, advertising for Microsoft is done by the CommuniquŽ Group of Toronto. Media Buying Services of Toronto does Canadian media buying.
