SHAW SET FOR AGENCY SEARCH

Calgary-based Shaw Communications Inc. received approval for its direct-to-home satellite TV service last week and will begin looking for an agency to help launch it. Shaw hopes to have the service running by the fall. Mark Pezarro, Shaw DBS Ventures' president, told Adnews the company will be putting its advertising account out for tender shortly. He said Shaw would consider any firm capable of handling its national advertising needs. "We're a Western-based company, so we like to work with Western-based firms," he said. "But this is a national program, so we have to make sure we get someone who can do the job." Shaw competitor ExpressVu Inc. has announced plans to have its DTH service in place by the summer. Star Choice Television Network Inc. already has a trial service running and is scheduled to release its full service next month.
