COMPAQ SUPPORTS SERVER WITH AD CAMPAIGN

Compaq Computer Corp. of Houston launched a North American print campaign this week for its ProLiant 5000 server. The goal of the ad is to show that the server outperforms the competition, according to recent TPC benchmark results. It features a photograph of a slip of paper which shows the latest TPC benchmark results. According to the ad, the ProLiant is at the top of the chart in price and performance when compared to machines from DEC, International Business Machines, Hewlett-Packard and Sun Microsystems. The ad also features a picture of the server in the lower right hand corner. The headline says, ÒItÕs like winning the lottery. Running a marathon in under two hours. Winning eight consecutive world championships. (The latest TPC benchmarks are in.)Ó The ads were created by Ammirati & Puris/Lintas of New York. In Canada, the agencyÕs Toronto office handled the media buy.
