Period Purse begins Say The Word campaign

Advocacy organization The Period Purse has begun an awareness campaign called “Say The Word” intended to counter social stigmas associated with menstruation. Developed by Doug & Partners of Toronto, the campaign encourages people to become more comfortable using the word “period.” It consists of three online videos in which the word is substituted into situation in which another word would be expected. These are being accompanied by social media content.
“There’s this huge menstrual wave happening across Canada,” said Jana Girdauskas, founder of The Period Purse. “I think people are saying, ‘Hey, this is something that we need to talk about and really reduce the stigma.’ It’s wonderful how fast the conversation is changing.”
