Motionball conducts No Good Way campaign
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based not-for-profit organization Motionball recently resumed an annual campaign called “No Good Way” intended to discourage use of the word “retarted” to describe individuals will an intellectual disability. The campaign includes a series of online videos highlighting the results of a recent survey into the use of the word. It also includes social media activities.
“Historically the R-word has been used to belittle those living with an intellectual disability, so it was jarring to learn that 48% of Canadians still use or hear it weekly,” said Mike Mills, a board member at Motionball. “But we also learned that most Canadians are willing to change that, and that is powerful.”
