Bees Matter readies pie store promotion

Advocacy group Bees Matter will conduct a one-day promotion on Oct. 4 intended to raise awareness of the role of honey bees in food production. On that day, the organization will operate temporary retail locations called Honey Bees Pie Shops in Toronto, Calgary and Ottawa. The stores will distribute free miniature pies to consumers, produced by local bakeries. Each location will also host bee experts who will offer information on the role of pollinating insects in the food chain. Bees Matter is an initiative of a collection of agricultural organizations.
