Y&R APPOINTS NEW CREATIVE DIRECTORS
By Adnews Staff
After a relationship of just under two years, the Toronto office of Young & Rubicam, Ltd. and executive creative director Jane Pritchard parted ways last week. Pritchard's position has been filled by the team of John Farquhar and David Adams, who will serve as senior vice-presidents and co-creative directors. Y&R's managing director Howard Breen told Adnews Pritchard and Y&R had decided on her departure together. He said Pritchard is still investigating other options outside the agency. Breen said he was satisfied with the quality of Y&R's current advertising, but added he was hoping the new creative directors would take it to new heights. "If you look at our reel (of TV ads)," Breen said, "it's a pretty decent reel. We just want to make sure it's the best possible reel for our clients. We want to make sure it's working as well as it possibly can." Although co-creative directorships are a rarity at Canadian agencies, Breen doesn't anticipate any problems with the new arrangement. He said Farquhar and Adams have known each other for years and expressed enthusiasm about serving in the position together. Farquhar and Adams have been with the agency just under two years, serving as vice-presidents and group creative directors. Pritchard joined Y&R in April, 1995 after serving as senior vice-president and creative director at J. Walter Thompson's Detroit office.
