PET PRODUCT COMPANIES SIGN PROMOTION AGREEMENT

Anitech Enterprises Inc., a pet recovery business with a national database of 200,000 pets, has set up a promotion agreement with pet drug manufacturer Draxis Health Inc. Anitech of Markham, operating as PetNet, distributes microchip IDs for pets and runs a pet recovery business. Toronto-based Draxis distributes the prescription veterinary drug Aniprylr. Aniprylr is used to treat canine Cushing's disease, a degenerative condition that affects older dogs. Under the agreement, which runs for one year, the two companies will market their products together at veterinarian's offices across Canada. Draxis may also get access to PetNet's database, which would allow them to target specific pet owners. Paul Brown, Anitech's president and CEO, told Adnews there are a number of companies in the pet field inquiring about the database, which is adding more than 4,000 new pets a month. Even producers of non-pet related products have expressed interest, Brown said. For instance, a photography company wants to use the database, because pet photos are the second-most popular type of picture after shots of children. Brown said Anitech would be cautious about which companies would get access to the database
