Lamb's Rum conducts Local Hero contest

Lamb's Rum of St. John's, NL has recently concluded a promotion called "Local Hero." The effort took the form of a contest to find the "most deserving local hero" in Newfoundland, defined as a person who has made a particular effort to improve their community. The grand prize winner, Elizabeth Kearney, will receive a prize of $20,000, a party in her honour and a song dedicated to her by folk band Rum Ragged. The song has been posted online at the contest website <http://www.lambslocalhero.ca>.
"What we've learned from the results of this contest is that Newfoundland is truly full of heroes," said Alice Carroll, Lamb's Rum brand manager at alcohol distributor Corby Spirit and Wine. "But no one is more deserving of the prize than Elizabeth. She's a true hero who just wants to keep the spirit of the community alive, and does it all herself without expecting anything in return."
