Food Basics begins contest promotion

Toronto-based grocery store chain Food Basics has begun a contest promotion in Ontario as part of its ongoing "I Want It All" campaign. The promotion will run until July 5 and is timed to coincide with the 150th anniversary of Canada. During the contest, winners will receive what the company describes as a 150% discount on their grocery bill. Winning consumers will receive their purchase for free, with an additional prize of a cheque for half the value of that purchase. Consumers can enter by submitting an image of their grocery receipt online at <http://www.foodbasics.ca>. Winners will be selected daily and announced via the website and the chain's Facebook page. The company expects to distribute approximately $100,000 during the contest. Food Basics operates 129 stores in Ontario. It is a division of Metro Ontario.

"With Canada's 150th birthday this summer, Canadians have a lot to celebrate and this year's 'I Want It All' program will enable them to do just that," said Nancy Modrcin, vice-president of marketing at Metro Ontario. "This offer is an extension of our mission to enable customers to save on the little things so that they can spend on the items or experiences that really matter most to them. Because whether our customers shop at Food Basics because they want to, or because they need to, everyone deserves to have it all."
