Explorers' Edge conducts Share Your Canada contest

Explorers' Edge, a tourism organization promoting travel to the Georgian Bay, Algonquin Park, Loring-Restoule, Almaguin Highlands and Muskoka regions of Ontario, has begun a contest promotion tied to the 150th anniversary of Canada this year. The campaign, called "Share Your Canada 150," encourages expatriate Canadians living in the United States and United Kingdom to submit descriptions and photographs of what they miss about Canada. The campaign is based on a website at <http://www.shareyourcanada150.com>.

Visitors to the site can vote for their favourite entries until June 26. Five finalists determined by public voting will then go to a judging panel. On July 1, the grand prize winner will be awarded a trip to the Explorers' Edge area of Canada valued at $10,000. A second trip will be awarded to a random voter.

"We knew Canada's 150th was approaching, and we knew Canadians abroad would be feeling the pull of their homeland as the celebrations started to ramp up," said James Murphy, executive director of Explorers' Edge. "So we decided to enlist their help in broadcasting to their circles of influence how spectacular the great Canadian wilderness is. By the end of the contest we hope to have an email database of thousands of Brits and Americans who have expressed an interest in visiting the great Canadian wilderness. At that point, our regional marketing will kick into high gear as we hope to convert these people to visitors."
