Republic launches strategy practice

Toronto-based Republic has launched a new practice that will specialize in brand strategy. Chris Hopper has been promoted to the position of vice-president of strategy and head of the practice. Prior to joining the agency two years ago, he headed the Tim Hortons account at J. Walter Thompson. According to Republic, the new practice is part of a larger restructuring effort intended to emphasize the agency's strategy and "storytelling" capabilities.

"We're building the agency we've always wanted to work for," said president Kathy Murphy. "A place where talent from across marketing disciplines can come together for one purpose, to tell the stories of the brands and businesses that are making a difference in their industries, in their communities and in our world. Recruiting and fostering great talent from all marketing disciplines is integral to our ability to help our clients advance their purpose and grow their businesses."

Republic's clients include Muskoka Brewery, Everest Funeral Planning, Food and Consumer Products Canada, the Town of Bracebridge, Fowler Construction, Weston Brain Institute and Staffy.
