InsureMy conducts Drive to Thrive campaign

Calgary-based insurance company InsureMy has begun an online campaign called "Drive to Thrive." The initiative is intended to educate teenaged drivers about the dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It is timed to coincide with graduation season, described by the company as a time of heightened risk. The campaign makes use of the tagline, "Be the life after the party." It incorporates at website at <http://www.drivetothrive.ca>, where visitors are invited to take an online pledge to take a safe way home on graduation night. The site also provides a collection of resources for schools and other organizations.

"Shining a light on the realities of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol allows us to start conversations, in our homes, in our schools and among our peers," said Hugh McTavish, president of InsureMy. "We can choose to ignore that our young adults are using these substances, or we can choose to educate them and support them in making smart decisions. At InsureMy, we've decided to take a proactive stand in trying to prevent the potentially tragic outcomes that may result from the bad decisions young-drivers can make. Together with our industry partners, we can work to change minds, to change the statistics."
