NET PROVIDER LAUNCHES AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
By Adnews Staff
Ottawa-based iSTAR internet inc. wants to teach parents about child safety on the Internet. Last week, the Internet service provider began an awareness campaign that gives parents guidelines on how to protect young Web surfers. The initiative includes information on how to retrieve blocking software that prevents children from accessing obscene or offensive material. Similar to the much-publicized television V-chip technology, the software is capable of restricting access to certain times of the day, limiting the total time spent on-line and blocking entry to specific sites. iSTAR ran print ads nationally on the weekend to promote the campaign. The company is also conducting PR through Cohn & Wolfe of Toronto. Separately, iSTAR will be kicking off a national print campaign touting its consumer and business services this week. Ads for both campaigns were produced in-house. Media Buying Services Limited of Toronto handled the buy for the business campaign, which will run for at least the next three months. iSTAR has offices across Canada, offering a broad range of Web-based products and services.
