COMAC SINKS TEETH INTO DOMINO'S

Comac Food Group Inc. of Calgary is set to add the Canadian Domino's Pizza chain to its holdings. This week, the company announced it has reached an agreement in principle to purchase the 204 franchised and corporate Domino's stores in Canada from the Calgary-based Gelmon family. The $5 million deal is expected to close in February. Domino's handles its Canadian advertising in-house. Comac president and CEO Don Schafer told Adnews he doesn't anticipate any changes in the advertising arrangements in the near future. U.S.-based Domino's International operates more than 5,500 stores internationally. Comac is a multi-concept franchise management organization. At present it has 105 stores across Canada under four retail brands: Company's Coming Bakery Cafes, Grabbajabba specialty coffee houses, Pastel's Cafes and Manhatten Bagel bakeries.
