Leukemia & Lymphoma Society conducts online promotion

The Toronto-based Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada has begun an online initiative called "Light The Night." The effort, timed to coincide with World Cancer Day, makes use of a website at <http://www.lightthenight4bloodcancer.ca/>. Visitors to the site can activiate a light on a map of the country. A donation to the organization will cause that light to become brighter. The map can also be accessed via a mobile application. The campaign also encourages Canadians to participate in the organization's annual series of fundraising walks and other awareness events.

"We want to show the more than 110,000 Canadians affected by blood cancers that they have the support of the entire country," said Sandra Harris, Ontario regional director at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. "By simply posting a light on our virtual map we will see the support of people from coast to coast."
