Electrical Safety Authority creates Deadly Dozen game

The Toronto-based Electrical Safety Authority has debuted a web-based game called "The Powerline Deadly Dozen," intended to raise awareness of the safety hazards of power lines. The game is located at <http://www.deadlydozen.ca>. Players take on the role of a detective who has to solve 12 fictional cases related to overhead and underground lines. The cases cover risky situations such as trimming trees, flying kites, doing home maintenance and digging holes. Each case solved will earn a player one entry into a weekly draw for a $100 gift card from Canadian Tire, as well as the grand prize of a $1,000 gift card. The contest will run until June 20.

"You can't play around with electrical safety, but our goal is to educate Ontarians about potentially dangerous situations using a fun and interactive platform where families and individuals can learn life-saving tips," said Scott Saint, chief public safety officer at the Electrical Safety Authority.
