JONES APPAREL GROUP HIRES BRAINSTORM

Jones Apparel Group of Toronto has hired The Brainstorm Group, also in Toronto, as its Canadian advertising agency. The deal was concluded three weeks ago and announced yesterday. A competition was not held. Stewart Halliday, Jones' executive vice president, says in a release that he was delighted with the work he had seen from BrainStorm for other clients and thought their understanding of the industry and their ability to partner with them made the choice easy. A Montreal flagship store will open in late October, followed by 28 Lauren by Ralph Lauren shops opening across Canada in February. Halliday told Adnews yesterday that advertising plans are still being worked out, but that ads will be seen in magazines, primarily fashion publications.
