INTERACTIVE INFOMERCIALS SET TO INVADE HOMES
By Adnews Staff
Philadelphia-based National Media Corporation and Montreal's Videoway Communications Inc. have joined forces to test interactive infomercials in Quebec. Set to begin Oct. 31, the test will involve 30,000 homes in the province's Saguenay region and will run until March 1997. The infomercials will be made available through an "interactive box" which is added on to a household's existing cable system. The infomercials will be delivered through as many as 60 still images per product with consumers free to search through a variety of products and pieces of information. The infomercials will appear solely in French. National Media's infomercials reach 270 million households worldwide.
