FORMER WAL-MART HEAD TURNS TO PHARMA PLUS

Former Wal-Mart Canada president Bruce West has joined Pharma Plus Drug Mart of Toronto as operations vice-president to help make the drug chain profitable again. The company lost $6.2 million in the year ending Jan. 27, compared with a profit of $4.2 million the previous year. Part of the reason for the drop is because the retailer lost the right to sell cigarettes at its 130 Ontario stores. Pharma-Plus has 147 stores in Ontario and Manitoba.
