Sponsorship roundup

Toronto-based technology company Thales Canada has signed-on to sponsor the winning Canadian teams at the FIRST Robotics Competition, an annual event at which international high-school students compete to build robots capable of assigned activities. Teams from Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and Nova Scotia will compete in three regional events this month, with the qualifying teams going on to compete in the world event in St. Louis, MO in April. "Kids have the capacity to push the boundaries of innovation, if you give them the right resources," said Michael MacKenzie, COO of Thales Canada Transportation Solutions. "FIRST Robotics is an amazing program that allows our youth to compete and learn from the best, thus ensuring we have a next generation primed for more research and development."
