Coalition Against Morbid Obesity begins online campaign

The Montreal-based Coalition Against Morbid Obesity has begun a social media campaign intended to raise awareness of the availability of bariatric surgery in the province of Quebec. The campaign includes two video testimonials from morbidly obese people who sought information about the procedure. The videos have been posted on YouTube and Facebook as well as on the organization's website at <http://www.lepoidsquitue.com>. In a second phase of the campaign, people with morbid obesity will be invited to submit video messages of their own. "By launching this campaign, the coalition is using a new platform to directly contact and deliver a message to over 400,000 Quebecers suffering from morbid obesity, people who also often suffer from isolation," said organization co-founder Jennifer Schultz. "Using the Internet, the preferred source of information for morbidly obese people, will help the coalition reach these people directly and inform them about the consequences of morbid obesity."
