Financial Planning Standards Council readies challenge promotion

The Toronto-based Financial Planning Standards Council will conduct a promotion called the "Financial Planning Week Challenge" from Oct. 17 to 23. The promotion takes the form of a national series of events intended to encourage Canadians to get their personal finances in order. The promotion is being supported with online information at <http://www.financialplanningweek.ca>. "Procrastination is one of the greatest challenges that Canadians must overcome in regard to their finances," said Tamara Smith, vice-president of marketing and consumer affairs at the council. "During Financial Planning Week, we encourage Canadians to learn at least one new thing about their finances, or to simply take action to get started improving their financial wellbeing. We know from our research that those Canadians that do engage in comprehensive financial planning experience significantly greater emotional and financial wellbeing. We also recognize that small steps can lead to big change over time. Make it happen by starting this week."
