Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science begins campaign

The Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science, based in Hamilton, ON, has begun a public awareness campaign called "Knowing Matters" intended to promote the work of medical laboratory professionals in the Canadian health care system. The campaign coincides with the organization's National Medical Laboratory Week, which will run from April 24 to 30. The campaign includes a 30-second commercial that has been posted to YouTube. Viewers will be encouraged to share the video with others to raise public awareness. According to the organization, the commercial will air on national television once it gains 25,000 views. "Even though our members are part of the third largest health care profession in Canada, they are often over looked by the public as key contributors to patient care," said society president Goldie Fagan. "As National Medical Laboratory Week draws nearer, our campaign will help shed some light on these hard working and dedicated professionals." The Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science is the national certifying body for medical laboratory technologists and medical laboratory assistants, and the national professional society for Canada's medical laboratory professionals.
