NYC & Company readies Just Ask the Locals campaign

NYC & Company, the tourism marketing organization of New York City, will unveil an expanded tourist appreciation campaign called "Just Ask the Locals" at the Canadian premieres of the movie Sex and the City on May 28 and 29. The campaign invites visitors to the city to ask New York residents for suggestions on things to see and do. The campaign first broke last August. The new two-minute cinema ads includes appearances from various celebrities and local spokespersons, including Kevin Bacon, Sean Combs, Coltrane Curtis, Alan Cumming, Tim Gunn, Debbie Harry, Matt Lauer, Lindsay Price and Ivanka Trump, describing their favourite things to do in New York. The ads will run on 502 movie screens in 53 theatres in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Ottawa. The initiative also includes outdoor advertising at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York intended to welcome visitors. These ads will run across five terminals for six months. More outdoor ads will run on bus shelters, street poles and taxies across the city. Print, radio and online advertising will also be used, directing visitors to a website at <http://www.nycvisit.com>.
