INTERLEAF SELLS SALES SOFTWARE

Ottawa-based Interleaf Canada has started selling PC software that it says will make sales people more effective. Intellecte/Sales Team is a program that allows sales people to tap into a variety of databases, including those on the Internet, to obtain information about current or potential customers. They can then take this data and fit it into a sort of electronic template that will show them how to make best use of the information to serve a customer or make a sales pitch. The software was developed jointly by Interleaf and The Learning Alliance, a company taken over last month by Interleaf's U.S. parent company Interleaf, Inc. A North American direct marketing campaign for the new software will break later this month, done by Harpell/Martins of Concord, Massachusetts. The software will also be pitched by the consulting firm KPMG Peat Marwick to its clients. KPMG consultants will be trained to show clients how to use the software and to oversee the way it is used in the client companies. Interleaf is an international supplier of software for electronically creating, assembling, managing and distributing documents. The Learning Alliance specializes in training sales forces.
