Environics Communications has undertaken a program intended to make the company carbon neutral by the spring. The company's four offices in Toronto, Montreal, Washington and New York will seek to get most of its electricity from emission-free producers using wind and water power. Employees will be encouraged to turn off lights and computers when not in use and more efficient light bulbs will be installed in desk lamps. The company will also recycle more materials use more recycled supplies. In addition, the company is offering employees a subsidy towards the purchase of a bicycle. Carbon offset credits through tree planting will be purchased to balance the fuel used to travel to meetings. "We want to be the greenest North American PR agency and everyone on our team is contributing ideas and taking action to make this possible," said Bruce MacLellan, president of Environics. "Going green is the right thing for the planet and also allows us to be more knowledgeable partners on this important topic with our clients."
