DataWave Vending of Vancouver is hopes to drum up more sales in Canada through an arrangement with another prepaid phone card company, Canada Telecom Network (CTN) of Montreal. Datawave, which sells its cards in vending machines, has worked out a revenue sharing agreement with CTN that will see CTN put DataWave machines in stores across Canada. Currently about 90% of the Vancouver company's business is in the U.S. Its only Canadian locations are in Vancouver. CTN has a distribution network of over 6,000 locations in Canada. Its cards are sold by chains such as 7-Eleven, Shell Canada, VCS Group, Greyhound Canada, Wal-Mart Canada and Hallmark. It has done phone card promotions for Pepsi Canada, Procter & Gamble, Borden Catelli, Best Foods, Sealtest/Haagan Dazs and Esprit Canada. DataWave will install and maintain the machines, while CTN will handle marketing and develop phone card programs.
