Toronto-based Sony of Canada will launch Connect, the company’s music download service, in Canada on Nov. 16. The service, which will be located at <http://www.sonyconnect.ca>, will feature approximately one million songs for sale, from all the major music labels and from a number of independent labels. “Connect not only offers Canadians an alternative destination for online music, but provides music lovers with lots of great features such as radio, free previews and exclusive sets by up and coming artists that were recorded live and acoustically at the Connect studio in Santa Monica,” said Jim Holland, international vice-president of Sony Connect. Sony is promoting the launch of the service by sponsoring the current Canadian tour of rock group Three Days Grace. The company maintains a presence at each concert called the “Walkman Listening Lounge” at which attendees can receive a postcard bearing codes for free downloads of three songs selected by members of the band.
