Canadian Paralympic Committee begins awareness campaign
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Paralympic Committee has begun an initiative called the Paralympic Winter Sports Awareness Campaign. The program is intended to involve people with physical disabilities in winter sports and to help make Canada a top-three medal winner at the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver. The national campaign, called "Feel the Rush," will focus on the winter Paralympic sports of alpine skiing, sledge hockey, Nordic skiing and wheelchair curling. The effort will encourage Canadians with a physical disability to feel the confidence and empowerment that comes with participating in sport at any level. The campaign materials include a website at <http://www.paralympic.ca/feeltherush>, a promotional DVD and supporting collateral that will be distributed through schools and rehabilitation facilities, and a national speaking tour involving Paralympic athletes.
