SINGAPORE TAPS NET FOR TOURISTS

The Singapore Tourist Promotion Board is trying to get more tourists to the island via computer. The board began running an Internet contest earlier this month offering two grand prizes of trips for two to Singapore. Contestants use supplied images, background information and virtual tools to create their own virtual collages that best convey their impressions of Singapore. Selected entries will be displayed in a virtual Public Gallery on the site. The Web site address is <http://www.newasiasingapore.com>. An international print ad campaign kicked off in Europe last month. It will start in the U.S. in May and in Canda in June. The Internet contest and the ad campaign are being handled by Batey Advertising of Singapore.
