Toronto begins red light awareness campaign

The City of Toronto's Transportation Services Division has undertaken an advertising campaign intended to discourage drivers from running red lights. The campaign consists of 10-second radio ads and posters on the backs of buses. The posters display a tombstone along the copy, "Almost saved 30 seconds" and the tagline "Don't Run a Red Light." "With this ad campaign we're reminding drivers that we all play a role in keeping our roads safe," said Councillor Shelley Carroll, chair of the city's Works Committee. "Obeying basic rules of the road, like stopping for red lights is the easiest, most cost-effective way for us to make our roads safer for everyone. Our message is simple: Running red lights is dangerous and unacceptable."
