Zi Magazine hires Siren

Calgary-based Zi Magazine has hired The Siren Group of Toronto to conduct a public relations program intended to raise consumer and media awareness of its premiere issue, which will be published this month. The agency will also promote the Zi Magazine Scholarship Fund, which will annually award of ten educational scholarships of $10,000 to readers of the magazine. Zi, which will be aimed at 18 to 34 year-olds, will carry articles on culture, fashion, beauty, politics, travel, technology, sports, fitness, ethics, entertainment, finance, careers and other topics. The quarterly glossy publication will be distributed through newsstands and by subscription. In addition, 40,000 copies will be inserted in copies of the National Post and The Globe and Mail in some markets. The launch will be supported with media relations, product placement, broadcast and print co-promotions and contests. A print and online advertising campaign will run in entertainment and weekly newspapers in a number of cities nationally. A 15-second commercial will run for two weeks on video displays at several university campuses beginning Oct. 21. This campaign was produced by Montana Creative of Calgary.
