Award show roundup

Direct marketing firm Torstar Media Group Television has won the "Best International DRTV Production" award at the 2005 Electronic Retailing Association Awards in Las Vegas this week. The winning commercial, called "Photo Album," was produced in high-definition in collaboration with OgilvyOne Worldwide for insurance company AIG Assurance. The ads shows a grandmother looking through a photo album with her grandchildren. The Electronic Retailing Association is a trade association representing companies who use electronic media to sell goods and services to the public.
Astral Media Outdoor received three prizes from the Sign Association of Canada earlier this month for the design of its new advertising pillars in Toronto. The pillars received awards in the "Best of Show," "Free-Standing Sign" and "Unusual Display" categories. The pillars, designed by Kramer Design Associates, display information for residents and tourists along with advertising. The three-sided metal structures have curved sides intended to echo the shape of Toronto City Hall. They carry three backlit panels and can include coin-operated map dispensers and LED display screens.
