Rogers Wireless releases MusiquePlus cell phone

Rogers Wireless has released a new MusiquePlus Edition Pay As You Go phone in Quebec. Subscribers to this cell phone package will be able to download original songs by Quebec recording artists and voice ringtones recorded by the hosts of the music video specialty channel. The package consists of a Motorola V186P handset with a MusiquePlus faceplate, along with special graphics, wallpaper, screen savers, video and ringtones from MusiquePlus programs. Customers will also be able to download songs to use as ringtones and receive offers for additional downloadable material. Users will also be able to access a text messaging service called Zone Plus, which will provide music news, concert ticket information, games and promotional offers. "The cellular phone is increasingly becoming the extension of its user because it's now possible to adapt the phone to suit personal tastes and to project a certain image," said Sylvie Charette, senior director of marketing and communications for Rogers Wireless in Quebec. "It is very important that Rogers Wireless build this partnership with a Quebec institution that resonates with young Francophones." Details of the promotional activities for the launch of this service are not yet available.
